Hyper cool!!! Holidays!
"A vacation or holiday is a leave of absence from regular occupation, or a specific trip or journey, usually for the purpose of recreation or tourism. People often take a vacation during specific holiday observances.. Vacations are often spent with friends of family." - Wikipedia -the one which is alway right and has all the knowledge in them-
This is gonna be a really really long text now dudes. I hope you've got time and a good position.
So, to make a real holiday, I had to fulfill all these things listed above. I left Paris to Austria, to be exact to Vienna. Ant the purpose was tourism. The specific time was the week before Easter, and I spent the time with my dearest Austrian friends. Though, there are many I didn't have a chance to see. Till the next time !
Who are these amazing Austrians ?
In Vienna, I have lots of friends who originally are from surroundings of Kufstein. And the reason I know them, is that we participated on Comenius project on Radioactivity which lasted for 3 years for us, some more time for my Austrian friends, whose teacher couldn't give up on the project before it was perfect. During these years with this project we learned a lot (or not), and the best thing, made really amazing friendships which have lasted even though the time has passed, and the distance is quite long. This was my second time I visited my friends after the project, and I still found them as lovely as they were back then.
Also I visited some amazing people in Salzburg. They used to be in exchange in Savonlinna, and they were as they used to, fun, lovely, awesome, hospitable, and this time, also busy with their schoolworks, but I was so happy to see them after a year.
So, to start about the trip.
The tickets to Vienna were partly a birthday present from the family I work in, and I couldn't even have imagined a present like this!
I left Paris on friday the 8th of April, and arrived in Vienna at 11 o'clock at night, and there they were, waiting for me at the gates, Maria and Hansi. And since we had to wait some time for the train to the city from the airport, we started enjoying Austrian faddery right away with some nice coffees (Austrian food can make you quite a lot bigger in short time if you don't keep an eye on what you are eating, but now I was on holiday, and I couldn't care less about how much or how greasy stuff I would be eating, the purpose was to enjoy).
The very next morning was bright and shiny, but I came to notice that Vienna is really a windy city. We headed out to the city after amazing breakfast, really a fat one with all the cheese and bread and all. No fear of feeling the hunger! And the first thing to do was to give a vote. It was the parliamentary elections in Finland, and of course I was voting!
After this we headed to the center of the city to meet up with friends for a long time. First destination was to catch some ice cream to salute the sun and warm day, and after it, we went to catch up and some sun at the same time in Stadtpark, a park, where I actually realized that I had been having a picknick there in 2008 on my interrail trip. Afterwards we headed to beach bar to seize the day.
In the evening we went out to meet more people, wow, it was nice!!!
On Sunday, we went to see the highest place in Vienna, "the mountain"! The view was great, company more than awesome, and the walk to a town nearby, Klosterneubourg???, with a monastery in it, just awesome due to the sunny weather!
After this amazing walk we went by buss back to Vienna, and had some traditional meats for dinner. Way too much to eat if you want to keep fit, but so tasty and so nice if you are travelling and discovering the country and not caring about your figure at this period of time!
After this, it was a really nice home evening with movie and good rest which was really needed.
Monday I went to Salzburg by car to meet with the former exchange people, and when I got there I actually had no other plan than to check out where and when I could meet with the people.
And lyckily I caught Sebastian by phone, and he picked my up to go to Germany, with him! Woah, it was so cool!
First we visited his place near the border, on the German side of it. From the picture oyu acn actually see the little river between these 2 countries.
After some time there, we went to his mothers place, took the dog and went for a stroll. We climbed to an old demolished castle just 15 minutes from the house, and after it, we went to the lake nearby.
I cannot describe how nice it was! The weather was just perfect! And the spontaneous mood of the day was just perfect.
Later on we returned to a village nearby, and caught some ice cream..
Afterwards I returned to Salzburg and left Sebastian to prepare his travelling.
Back in Salzburg I went to see some sights, and then the battery of the camera went off. WHAT A SHAME WAS THAT! Because afterwards I met Sophie and Dave for a really nice dinner at a really nice restaurant, from where we left for way too cool sight seeing tour in the city. Dave and Sophie are such great guides!! Kiitos paljon!!!
After going around the city we went to see Bernhard, who was wrestling with his bachelor's thesis and time limits. Bernhard and Laura were so nice letting me stay the night at their place even if they were so busy with their university stuff!
And the breakfast in the morning, UNBELIEVABLE!! so good, so much stuff, and so good. What a good hosts! So nice!
And they even borrowed me an umbrella when I left, which I forgot to gave back to Sophie who came to spent the last hours with me. Luckily I knew that Sebastian was coming through Vienna so I could gave the umbrella to him to transport it back to these guys.
Back in Vienna I met René and his colleague Kim and her boyfriend at the movies. We went to the french film festival to see Operation Casablanca, Which was really a good movie! And I'm proud of myself, I understood it all (French with german subtitles) !!
After the movie, there was an amazing buffet at the cinemas cafeteria! Wow, all these little decorated breads! After this, when I went home, I still had a late dinner with Maria and she had made such good traditional food, ain't she gorgeous ?
On Wednesday Maria had her test so I went off the city again. Now I headed out to Bratislava! And oh, I was so lost!!! None I tried to ask for help spoke english neither german so I really was without no direction to go in the start. And then it started to rain. Perfect!!
So, I took some random busses hoping to find into the city, which I actually did after some adventurous buss tripping..
And then, the first thing I did was to find something more warm to wear, scarf and so, and then I headed walking to the city, again without the map, but as my theory is, if there is something like a mountain in the city, there is something on top of it too, and I did find the main attraction, the castle. (Ok, you can actually see the castle to the city, of course.. )
Here is my photo impression of the capital..
But it was a nice walk there and afterwards I spent some time in a café waiting for the train back to Vienna.
On thursday we went to do some sight seeing with Maria. First we went to her university, how huge was that! And so nice! Amazing old building!
Afterwards we met up with Sebastian, who came to Vienna to leave abroads with his girlfriend. Together we went to see Karlskirche, where is a huge restoration going on. and we could klimb up to the cupola! What an experience!
Then we went to get some lunch and apfelstrudel at Marias place, and Sebastian joined us too.
In the evening we headed out to have some nice wienerschnitchel dinner, and meet some new people. So much fun at the dinner! And then after this, we headed out to the city with girls, fun!
Friday. Waking up relatively late, having lunch with Maria and René, and then leaving Maria to study and going sightseeing with René, who was such a good guide too! We went to Schönbrun to see the Eastermarket and the castle's park. Afterwards we walked around the city and met with Lorenz. So much fun and laughter during the day, danke schön!!
When returning back to their flat we just made a quick make over, and transformed ourselves to birthday party people. The people there was so nice, and I really enjoyed the company!
And because my flight was going at before 7 and I had to be leaving from the house to the airport before 4.30, we decided not to sleep at all. Awesome, and afterward some awesome tiredness! I slept in the plane, and at the airport where I had to wait for the second flight... Back in Paris it was so nice to go to meet Roosa and have a good breakfast with her and telling about the trip. And Paris was sooooooo nice and sunny and warm after this! Great!
This week in Austria was maybe the best trip I've ever made, and a really active one! We did so much stuff and everything went so well! I'm so lucky to have so good friends in that country, and I really hope that we are seeing each other relatively soon again! Maybe next winter I'm coming to ski with you, maybe... I wish I could come there soon again! THANK YOU DARLINGS! <3 I'm thinking about you all alot! Take care!
Että semmonen reissu! :D
